Toys

Bob gutted Nemo today. :)
My nephew won a toy fish in some game thing at Walmart the day after Christmas. He decided to give it to Bob. Bob has never shown any interest in any toys other than his tennis balls. But today, he played tug-o-war and fetch with that fish. Then he started chewing on it until he split the seam on the belly. He didn't pull any of the stuffing out. Once he split the seam, he lost interest in the fish.
Odd little dog.
No more seizures. My sister-in-law ran into his original owner and he said Bob had never had seizures when they had him, so this is something new. Anyway, he has a vet appointment in a couple of weeks, so hopefully things will get better.
:) Ciao!!!

Photos

Hopefully I will have some pictures of Bob really soon. I took some really cute ones, but since they are on regular film, I have to wait to develop them until I have some money. :) But I am still working on a digitial camera so I can take some pics of Bob and put them on here. Cya!

Bob's Food

I have to switch Bob's food. Since he's at least 6 years old, possibly older, I am going to switch his wet food to Senior formula. It's the same brand, so he shouldn't get sick from it. It is a little more expensive. Right now, I can buy a large can of wet food for 92¢ which lasts Bob about 5 or 6 days. The new stuff is something like 52¢ and will probably only feed him two days. So, my dog food expense will be about $45 just for wet food.
Dry food isn't a problem. He only eats about 1/4 - 1/2 cup a day, so the 25 pound bag of food I bought when I got him in October is still about half full. So, that reduces the expense somewhat, I only have to buy him a small bag.
His shampoo is another story. Right now I am using human shampoo with some dog conditioner. His hair feels very dry and rough. So I have to buy some shampoo that maybe has some oatmeal in it or something as well as a conditioner that washes out. The stuff I have now is a leave in. I've been looking online, our pet store here is more expensive than the human beauty shops. Something like $18 for a miniscule size shampoo. I can buy a gallon of the same stuff on the internet for something like $20.
So anyway, Bob is whining at me again. It snowed and he wants out.
Ciao!

Added Note

Just wanted to let you know, I am trying to get a digital camera so I can take some pictures of me and Bob. So, possibly in the next 2-4 weeks, I'll have some pics of us (mostly Bob) :)
Ciao!

A little about me

I'm working on organizing my scrapbooking and stamping stuff so I can finally get some photos put into albums. I must have 10,000 pictures that aren't in albums. I have pictures from day cares that I ran, old family pictures, and from way back when I was little. I have some pictures from when my mom and dad were little. My father has some old pictures from the time prior to my parent's marriage that I would like to scrapbook. He also has some old Army photos from Viet Nam. Maybe I can work on it for next Christmas. It's not a time he likes to remember often, but occasionally he'll pull out the old photos and show them to some people.
So, I still have two weeks before school starts again, so hopefully I can get my butt in gear and organize my stuff, so I can actually use it!!!
(By the way, I have moved twice this year and all of my scrapping stuff is in boxes and bags. Not fun.)
Ciao!

Christmas

Bob's stocking was empty, sadly. He won't eat treats, he won't play with any toys besides his tennis ball, and he won't chew on anything. So, he didn't get much for Christmas. He enjoyed watching my nephews rip open their presents. He whined. Hopefully everyone had a good Christmas out there. Ciao!

Whining

Bob has been whining for the last five or six days. I don't have a clue what is wrong. He's eating, he actually doesn't want to play ball much and he's sleeping. Other than the seizures the other night nothing seems to be wrong. There is a dog that's been running around the neighborhood the last week or so. Possibly a female, possibly in heat. If that's the case, then Bob's trying to find her. Who knows?
Ciao!

Scare

Bob almost died last night. He had 5 or 6 seizures in a row, within about 15 minutes. I took him to a vet that was open, luckily, and they gave me a muscle relaxer type thing to help Bob calm down if he has another seizure.
It was extremely scary. They were full hard core seizures. He almost folded in half backwards. He was shaking violently and drooling like crazy. His eyes rolled back in his head a couple of times.
The vet said that most likely he has a liver problem and we will have to do blood tests to find out. Shih Tzus can have liver problems, it's a common trait. So, that's most likely what's going on. Also the vet thinks Bob is older than 6.
The person we bought Bob from won't talk to us about him. I don't think he's the dog they say he is. He doesn't act very old, he's still hyper and energetic, but it's possible that he's older than 6. I am going to be doing a DNA test next month to determine if he is in fact the dog they say he is. I can not breed him because of the seizures, they are passed on genetically, but I would like to know if he is in fact the right Bob.
I can't find any records for Bob at the vets in town and the previous owner is not the one on the papers I have for him. Anyway, I will still keep him, he's a wonderful dog, but we can no longer breed him because of his seizures and possibly age.
So anywho. Ciao!!!

Mouse Scare

Bob is scared of mice. I live in an unfinished apartment which was converted from a large storage shed. By unfinished I mean it's a large room. No bathroom, kitchen or bedroom. It's a large room with a living room and room for a bed. Oh and I have a refrigerator. Anyway, obviously, mice are a problem. Last night I was playing ball with Bob and he jumped about three feet in the air, ran and buried himself in a corner. I listened and could hear a mouse scratching something. After a few minutes it went away and Bob settled down.
Of course it could have been the neighborhood racoon. The scratching was by the door.

A new Friend

Well, Bob remains King of the castle. The whole puppy buy fell through. Apparantly the woman was selling off older dogs from her breeding stock and since my sister-in-law is trying to get into the business new, older stock isn't a great idea. Plus, there were a few more odd questions. Too many chances of mix breeds. You know the old saying, if it's too good to be true, it usually is.
So, no Copper right now, maybe later on I'll have a Howdy or a Billy to go along with Bob, but the timing isn't right.
He's perfectly happy being the sole dog in the home, and if we added another dog, he'd be really mad.
See Ya!

A new Friend

Bob may be getting a new baby brother. He's a 7 month old red Pomeranian. My sister in law is getting into breeding dogs and she has an opportunity to purchase some dogs from a breeder for a low price. In the mixture of animals for sale is a 7 month old red Pomeranian. My mother loves that cartoon The Fox and The Hound. Because Pomeranians look like foxes, I thought we would name the dog after Tod, but Mom likes Copper. So, the puppy will be called Copper. Cute huh?
See ya

Average Day

Bob doesn't like to sleep past 9. If I'm not awake by 9, he will stretch on me and drag his sharp claws down my arm. Then he will bite me or roll around next to me making sure he bumps into me several times. Then he will get within a few inches of my face and whine. Although it is cute, I am not a morning person and it is a little irritating. So I may not need an alarm clock when school starts up again because I have a little dog.
It snowed a little yesterday. By a little, I mean about 1/2 an inch. Barely a skiff. It was melted by noon. But Bob was excited. We couldn't keep him in the house. He would just go outside and stand. Wanted me to play with him. He loves the snow.
It's supposed to snow today. I think we're supposed to get several inches. Bob should be very excited. He'll bouce around like the goofball he is.
Ciao!

Weather woes

Bob doesn't like the rain. In fact he hates it. It rained really hard all day yesterday. He wanted out and every time I'd open the door for him, he step back. I had to pick him up and put him out. He would take about two steps out the door, go to the bathroom, and want back in.
But he loves the snow. It snowed a couple of weeks ago and he bounced around in it, didn't want to come in, and wanted to play. Then it rained and all he wants to do is sleep.
It's amazing how animals are so like humans. Bob feels down in the dumps when it rains, and so do people. He loves to play in the snow, and so do some people.
He is a sweet dog. I'm glad I have him.

Irritations

Bob was very naughty last night. He decided that he didn't want to come in the house after going out. Of course it was after one in the morning. He wouldn't come to me, I even got the ball out. After 20 minutes, I finally flushed him out. He got in big time trouble. He lost his ball for the entire day today. No ball at all.
He's an old dog and it's very hard to train him. He won't come to anyone when called, unless he wants to. So, I'm working on him. I have three more weeks until school starts again, so I have some time to work with him.
The little snot. :)

Further info

I will post some pics as soon as I can. :)

Meet ball obsessed Bob

Bob's my dog. He's a cute little Shih Tzu who's six years old. He's only been my dog since about September. He's sweet tempered, but he has a major ball obsession. He will search for his ball until he finds it, then he expects you to play ball with him for hours. He must sleep with the ball.
Yes, Bob is obsessed.
His favorite ball is the small tennis ball that I found for him at Walmart. It's green and I have two of them. He knows there are two. These tennis balls are the only ones he cannot chew up. He has several bouncy balls, but he can chew them to little tiny pieces.
Bob will pout when the ball is gone. He will whine and cry until the ball is given to him.
If you will not play ball with him, Bob will throw the ball for himself.
Bob becomes psychotic when the ball is in view or in the vicinity of his nose. If you try to hide the ball under your leg, a blanket, or any other object, he will dig until he frees his "baby."
Bob is obsessed, but he is a sweet dog.
Welcome to Bob's blog.

Bob was playing ball and since it was October, he got hot. So he was resting between ball games.

This is when I first got Bob. He was very skinny and not very healthy. But he looked so cute in his little red shirt.
